'Dance in the Dark' Mask by TrishaLaCherie 'Dance in the Dark' Mask by TrishaLaCherie
An edgy and beautiful mask I created after being inspired by the stunning mask worn by Lady Gaga herself on the cover of her single, "Dance in the Dark": [link] [link]

For a sideview pic of the mask, click here: [link]

From Michaels I used:
- a roll of chains, which were cut up using wire-cutters
- a gold mask, which I spray-painted black to get kind of a leathery look
- black spray paint
- gloss spray paint
- metal jewelry connectors
- a sturdy needle
- a pair of wire cutters
- a pair of pliers
- a mini screw driver
- Loctite Super Glue

Then from Hot Topic, I bought some large metal spike ear gauges, which came in packs of ten.

If you'd like to try creating a mask of your own:
1. Take your gold mask (or any other metallic mask), and spray paint your mask black. Once the mask if completely covered, spray with a gloss spray paint.
2. While the mask sits to dry (it usually takes about 2 hours), use your needle to punch 16 holes on each side of the bottom of the mask.
3. Cut thirty-two 6 inch separate chains, and attach them to separate metal jewelry connectors. (To pry them open or close them tight, you can use your pliers).
4. Run each of the jewelry connectors through the 32 holes you punched at the bottom of the mask.
5. Punch 7 holes in the upper eye lid of the mask, and 7 corresponding holes in the lower eye lid.
6. Take 14 jewelry connectors for each eye, and slide them into the holes you just punched.
7. Depending on the shape and size of the eye slits, measure and cut out the lengths of chain you'll need with your wire cutters.
8. Carefully slide each separate chain end to the top and bottom jewelry connectors in each eye.
9. Punch 7 slightly larger holes around the top of the mask's forehead. The holes should be placed as follows:
x xx x xx x
10. Unscrew the backs of your seven metal spikes with your screw driver (or your fingers, if the screw is easier to manage), and stick each back into a corresponding hole.
11. Place a drop of super glue, and quickly screw the spike into place. (Do each spike one at a time, in order to make sure the super glue doesn't dry before the spike is screwed back on).
12. Poke six holes above the spikes using your needle (in-between each spike), and slide six jewelry connectors into them.
13. Using a foot-long strand of chain, connect it to the jewelry connectors in any way you wish! (Just make sure the ends of the chain are connected to the jewelry connectors on the far ends of the mask).
14. Now you're ready to dance in the dark like Mama Monster herself! Have fun! ;)
